Principal's Monthly Message

Aloha PCES Ohana,

We are a month into 2023 and I hope everyone is still following their New Year’s Resolution! My resolution is to really be present with my family and not always have my mind on work. It is challenging at times, but I feel like I have been doing good so far.

We had two awesome parent involvement activities in January. Thank you to Mrs. Calbero, Mrs. Restad, Mrs. Vik, Mrs. Andrade, and the custodians for helping to set up and take down our “Lunch with your Child” activity. It was so nice to see families on campus eating lunch with their children. Mrs. Calbero and the counselors did an amazing  job making the tables and atmosphere welcoming for our families. We also had our Awards Assembly to recognize all of our Perfect Attendance, GLO, and Honor Roll award winners for the 1st semester. I’m sure that the upbeat assembly brought excitement to those who won awards!

I hope we have an amazing 3rd quarter and as always let's continue to live Ne'epapa, working together to move forward!

Sincerely,

James Suster

Aloha PCES Ohana,

The 4th quarter is upon us, which means SBA testing will be fast approaching. During SBA, our 3rd-6th grade students will be tested on their grade level knowledge of Reading and Math. Our 5th graders will also be tested on Science. Please speak to your child(ren) and let them know how important it is to try their best on these tests to show how much they know.

On Thursday, April 6th, we will be having our Meet for Sweets event. I am nervous about this as I will be teaching and demonstrating how to make a special dessert called Chocolate Surprise. We will be doing this virtually, so you can follow along in your own kitchen and prepare this delicious dessert.

Finally, I would like to ask if any of our parents or community members would like to nominate themselves to be a part of our School Community Council (SCC). The SCC meets quarterly and is a decision making body that looks at and approves our Academic Plan as well as other important aspects of the school. If you are interested in being a part of the SCC please email me at [email protected]. You have until April 15th to let me know if you are interested. Ballots will then be sent out for a vote to our school community. If you have any questions about this process please let me know.

Thank you for all your help and support this school year.

Sincerely,

James Suster

PCES Ohana,

I can't believe we are entering our last month of school! It has been a busy and productive school year for everyone. It is always a little sad at the end of the year because our 6th graders will be moving on to Intermediate school and we often have many military families leaving Hawaii on new adventures around the globe. I would personally like to thank Mr. Remy Marsden, Mrs. Kristin Khan, and Mrs. Rachel Harmon-Knobel who will be leaving us over the summer. The three of them have been important members of our PTO and have helped to move the school in a positive direction. Your contributions and dedication to the school are truly appreciated. SBA testing is well underway and we know students in grades 3-6 are trying their best to show how much they have learned throughout this school year. Let's finish strong and have an amazing last month of school.

Sincerely,
James Suster
